Bhindi Masala

Recipe Ingredients

First of all, check if you have all the necessary ingredients for this recipe. Pay attention to the quantities!
  • Bhindi (lady finger) : 250 gm
  • Onions : 2 Chopped
  • Tomatoes : 3 (make puree)
  • Garlic : 1 Tbs Chopped
  • Oil : 4 Tbs
  • Cumin Seeds : 1 Tsp
  • Salt : 1 Tsp
  • Turmeric Powder : 1/4 Tsp
  • Red Chili Powder : 1 Tsp
  • Coriander Powder : 2 Tsp
  • Garam Masala : 1/2 Tsp
  • Sugar : 1 Tsp
  • Curd : 1/2 Cup
  • Water : 1/2 cup

Recipe Instructions

Next, follow the steps to finalize your dish and finally be able to enjoy it!
  1. Wash and pet dry bhindi with kitchen towel or napkin. Cut it's edges and cut it into two pieces and give a slit in all the pieces. Now heat 2 tablespoon oil in a pan.

  2. Shallow fry all the bhindi. Cook for about 5 minutes, then take them out. Heat some more oil in a pan.

  3. Add cumin seeds in the oil. When they start to splutter, add chopped garlic and onions in it.

  4. Sauté it till it becomes golden brown. Add fresh tomato puree in it. Then add turmeric powder and coriander powder too.

  5. Put in the red chili powder. Mix it and cook for around 2 to 3 minutes. Add fresh curd and stir it.

  6. Add the salt and the garam masala in kadhai. Then add in some water and mix it well. Cook for another 2 minutes.

  7. Add sugar and fried bhindi in it. Now, mix it well. Cover it and cook for 5 minutes on low flame.

  8. Bhindi masala is ready, serve it with paratha, naan or chapati.
